St. Patrick Preservation Update – Fall/Winter 2004 Town of Erin Newsletter

The 150th Anniversary History Book of St. Patrick’s Church of Thompson in the Town of Erin is hot off the presses and available for sale starting October 20, 2004. The 187-page book packed with memorable information and over 250 pictures is reasonably priced at $30. To reserve a copy, please contact Nancy Henke at 262/773-5219 or e-mail Mary Hasslinger at flrlkpsk@nconnect.net. Books will also be available for sale on Election Day at the town hall.

Mark your calendars!!!! There will be a 150th Anniversary Celebration of St. Patrick’s Church at the Erin Town Hall on Sunday, June 26, 2005—Mass at 3 p.m. and dinner to follow. Father Wally Vogel has already responded that he will be in attendance. Please call Nancy Henke (or any member of the St. Patrick Preservation Committee) or E-mail Mary Hasslinger to be included on the reservation list. All former parishioners, former residents of the town, families of those buried at our cemeteries, historic enthusiasts and supporters are most welcome. Please feel free to extend an invitation to anyone who might be interested by contacting Nancy or Mary at the phone number or E-mail shown above.

We are also pleased to announce that we have gathered over 525 signatures to show support for the local Tridentine Church Community’s interest in using St. Patrick’s Church for a Latin Mass. With its historic interior still in place, St. Patrick’s Church would be an ideal place for such a diocesan community outreach. We will be presenting this information shortly to the Milwaukee Archdiocese for their consideration. We are so appreciative to Jeff and Mary Millikin (and kids) for their help in this endeavor. When you stop in to fill up, please remember to say “THANKS!”

For continued updates on our progress, please visit our web site at www.savestpatrick.com or join us the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Erin Town Hall. Coffee, dessert and catching up with family, friends and neighbors follow the meeting. The Rosary will be prayed (weather permitting) from May through October at 6:40 p.m. prior to the meeting on the steps of St. Patrick’s. If you would like to become a member of the St. Patrick Preservation Fund, Inc. (reasonably priced at $5/Single and $10/Family), please contact Nancy Henke.

We thank you for your continued support to preserve an important part of the Town of Erin’s history and stay tuned for further details in the next town newsletter on the 150th Anniversary Celebration of St. Patrick’s Church of Erin!
